During the first half of the Labor Day weekend, spanning from Wednesday to Sunday, police officers across the state of Arizona arrested nearly 400 people on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The statistics were made public on Sunday by the Office of Highway Safety. When compared to the same time frame as last year, the number of arrests have decreased. There were 617 arrests during the Labor Day weekend in 2011, and there were only 382 made this year.
Of the 382 DUI arrests, almost 33 percent of the individuals were arrested for an extreme DUI, which meant that their BAC was over 0.15 percent. Also, approximately two dozen drivers that were pulled over had been arrested before for driving under the influence.
