Woody
Thompson is a graduate of Arizona State University where he
earned a degree in Mathematics. As an Honors student, Mr.
Thompson received an academic full ride through a variety of
academic scholarships including, the ASU Leadership four-year
scholarship, Regents Scholarship, and Medallion of Merit
Scholarship. While at Arizona State University Mr. Thompson
served as Student Lobbyist providing a student voice in
Washington D.C. , the Arizona State Legislature, and the Arizona
Board of Regents.
Mr. Thompson then continued at
Arizona State University where he earned his Law degree. Once
again, Mr. Thompson received high academic honors and was the
recipient of the Dean's scholarship. While in law school Mr.
Thompson clerked at the law firms of Peshkin and Kotalik, P.C.
and Snell & Wilmer, LLP. Most significantly, Mr. Thompson
began his work as a devoted criminal defense attorney, working as
a Rule 38 student attorney representing numerous people on DUI
and Criminal offenses at a Trial Court and Appeals level.
After graduating from law school,
Mr. Thompson embarked on a brief career at the largest law firm
in Arizona, Snell & Wilmer, LLP. At this top civil law firm,
Mr. Thompson worked on cases in areas of complex commercial
litigation, products liability, and intellectual property law.
While this work was challenging and satisfying, Mr. Thompson was
not ultimately fulfilled. So, he returned to practice where he
could use his scientific knowledge and trial skills in a unique
and synergistic way to advocate for accused individuals in his
community.
Mr. Thompson returned to the
practice of DUI and Criminal Defense law. Mr. Thompson has
successfully handled thousands of DUI and Criminal cases. As a
trial attorney, Mr. Thompson has vast experience from DUIs and
vehicular crimes to Aggravated Assaults and Homicide. Mr.
Thompson is an experienced and highly skilled defense attorney
dedicated to providing the finest defense to anyone accused of a
DUI or Criminal offense.
It is important to note that Mr.
Thompson's solid foundation of Math and Science enables him to
analyze and evaluate the many scientific details of DUI and
forensic criminal cases. Mr. Thompson has vast experience in
accident reconstruction and is able to communicate on the same
level as the trial experts. It is this unique insight that has
helped a great many of Mr. Thompson's clients in cases ranging
from DUI to homicide.
Most importantly, Mr. Thompson has a
wealth of oral advocacy experience in and out of the Courtroom.
Mr. Thompson has dealt with Senators in Washington D.C. and
prosecutors across the state of Arizona behind closed doors and
in open Court. Mr. Thompson has the highest level of experience

Jay S.
Volquardsen

Jay S. Volquardsen
attended Arizona State University where he obtained a Bachelor of
Science degree in Construction Project Management in 1997 and a
Juris Doctor of Law in 2000. During his undergraduate studies,
Mr. Volquardsen served as an intern for the Arizona State Senate
Finance Committee. During law school, Mr. Volquardsen served as a
Staff Attorney clerk for the Court of Appeals for the State of
Arizona , Division One. Mr. Volquardsen gained a wealth of
experience and knowledge in the areas of civil, constitutional,
and criminal law during his time with the Court of Appeals.
In January 2001, Mr. Volquardsen
began his legal career in bankruptcy law working for another
local law firm. Since 2001, Mr. Volquardsen has
effectively represented numerous clients in both bankruptcy and
criminal proceedings.
Since Mr. Volquardsen has been
practicing law he has been integral in obtaining several
published opinions on behalf his clients, including: Arizona
v. Bliemeister (In re Bliemeister) , 296 F.3d 858
(9 th Cir. 2002); Smith v. Lachter (In re Smith) , 293
B.R. 220 (9 th Cir. 2003); North v. Winterthur
Assurances (In re North) , 2003 Bankr. Lexis 829
(9 th Cir. B.A.P. 2003), reversing without opinion, North v.
Winterthur Assurances (In re North) , 279
B.R. 845 (Bankr. D. Ariz. 2002)); and In re Castro , 285
B.R. 703 (Bankr. D. Ariz. 2002).
Prior to embarking on his legal
career, Mr. Volquardsen worked as a project engineer on an inner
-city, Housing and Urban Development Project in downtown Los
Angeles , California . Mr. Volquardsen has lived in Chandler ,
Arizona since 1984 and in his spare time, enjoys playing
basketball and golf and spending time with his friends and
family.

Jim Simpson
|

Jim Simpson is a
former DUI prosecutor and is now diligently representing the
clients of Thompson and Volquardsen. Jim attended California
Lutheran University where he received a Bachelor of Science
Degree in Political Science. Jim then went on to earn his law
degree from Quinnipiac College School of Law in 1997. Since that
time, Jim as gained extensive and valuable legal experience
particularly in the area of Criminal Law.
This experience includes five years as a Deputy County Attorney
with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, one year as an
insurance defense attorney for a major insurance company, one
year as a criminal defense attorney, and two years as an
Assistant Attorney General with the Arizona Attorney General’s
Office
Jim’s five years with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office were
served predominately in the Major Crimes Bureau split between the
Gang\Repetitive Offender Program Bureau and the Sex Crimes
Bureau. During this time, Jim prosecuted thousands of cases
which included conducting an extremely large number of jury
trials in cases ranging from DUI and simple drug possession, to
serious, high profile sex crime and violent, gang related cases.
As a result of this work and the results obtained, Jim received
numerous recognition awards for his handling of those cases.
Finally, while serving two years as an Assistant Attorney General
with the Arizona Attorney Generals Office in the Drug Conspiracy
Unit, Jim prosecuted hundreds of cases ranging from
methamphetamine possession, sales, and labs to large multi-
defendant drug trafficking rings and wire tap cases.
Jim is originally from San Diego, California, but has now lived
in Arizona for approximately 10 years and enjoys spending time
with his wife and 3 year old son, Jack. Jim also enjoys all
sports, golf, and fishing trips to the White Mountains.
