Arizona OUI Defense Lawyer

Operating Under the Influence (OUI) is a crime similar to DUI, but applied to the operators of watercraft. Much like DUI, the legal limit for operating a watercraft is .08 BAC. A blood alcohol content of greater than .08 can result in the arrest of the operator, as well as serious repercussions.

If you or someone you love has been charged with an OUI, Thompson & Volquardsen, P.C., may be able to help you. Our experienced Arizona OUI defense lawyers understand how important your case is to you, and we may be able to help you overcome the charges you are facing. Experienced Arizona OUI Defense

Under Arizona law, the operators of watercraft can have no more than a .08 BAC. During many months of the year, Arizona police use “saturation patrols” and checkpoints to monitor the blood alcohol content of boaters. Officers in saturation patrols or stationed at OUI checkpoints will run tests on boaters to ensure that they are not over the legal limit.

If you are convicted of an OUI, the punishments could be serious. Some of the most common include:

  • Fines of up to $2,500 plus surcharges;
  • Alcohol or drug screening and treatment;
  • Jail time of up to six months.

These punishments can increase if other prerequisites are present, such as a BAC in excess of .15 or a prior conviction.
